| San Francisco Claims 6-2 Victory | The San Francisco Sailors rode a solid performance from 26-year-old starting pitcher Bob Briggs to a win, beating the Chicago Cougars, 6-2, at Golden Gate Stadium. San Francisco, now 50-64, holds down 4th place in the Continental Association West.
The Sailors took the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the sixth inning. Facing Chicago hurler Manny Espinosa with two outs, Ron Turner hit a 2-run single.
Said losing manager Pug Bryan: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
