| Wranglers Winners, 8-2, Over Stars | Dallas picked up a win at Bigsby Stadium, bumping off the Los Angeles Stars, 8-2. Pitcher Jim Schoolfield was a major reason the Wranglers emerged victorious. With the win, the Wranglers improved to 64-48.
Buck Stout had a big 2-run triple for the Wranglers in the top of the fifth inning. With Dallas leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a forkball from Floyd Warner, who finished 5th in the CA in innings pitched with 235.1 in 1961, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 5th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wranglers ahead, 4-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Schoolfield told the Dallas Times. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there." | |
