Chiefs Take Tight Tangle
Getting a good performance from right fielder Freddie Mitchel, the Chicago Chiefs defeated the Detroit Dynamos, 5-4. Mitchel went 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 times for the Chiefs. Picking up the save was Frank Carmichael. He's now 4 for 7 in save chances. The win lifted the Chicago record to 58-56.

Chicago used a timely hit from Rankin Ziegler to get the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Chiefs manager Ollie Howard.
