Chicago Rallies Past Kansas City, 5-4 | Kansas City got a decent performance from pitcher Fred Myers, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago Cougars. Chicago won the Cougars Park contest, 5-4. Myers threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. The winner was Chicago reliever Pug White, now 12-11. The loser was Fred Whitt. The Cougars improved to 64-72.
Chicago got a jolt from Henry Watson. The pinch hitter ripped a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it brought the house down.
"Job one," said Watson, "is get the job done." | |
