Baltimore pitcher Buck Guthrie did his part in helping his team defeat the Atlanta Copperheads, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Baltimore goes to 51-60, Atlanta to 82-29.

Baltimore shortstop Jack Goodman contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 75th hit of the season and put the Clippers ahead, 4-0.

"We take it day by day here," said Goodman, "and today was a good one for us."
