Pittsburgh second baseman Reid McLaughlin had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Boston at Minuteman Stadium. McLaughlin was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Boston reliever Johnny Harry picked up the win, upping his record to 5-3. Billy Ligons was saddled with the loss. The Minutemen improved to 67-70.

Bill Moore produced at a critical juncture for Boston. It happened in the bottom of the eighth with Billy Ligons on the mound and Boston trailing 4-3. That's when the 14-year veteran Moore hit a 2-run double.

"This was a good win," said Moore.
