Stars Score Late, Top Cannons, 4-3
Floyd Warner, who finished 3rd in the CA in ERA with 3.28 in 1958, had a strong outing for the Los Angeles Stars against the Cincinnati Cannons at Bigsby Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Los Angeles is now 77-57, Cincinnati 71-64.

Los Angeles took a 4-3 lead on Virgil Ewing's 30th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Ewing hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Cincinnati pitcher Hal Adams visibly frustrated.

"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Warner. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
