| Montreal Gets 3-2 Win | In a tight contest between the Montreal Saints and the Toronto Wolves, Jose Martinez was the determining factor. The Montreal right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. The winner was Martinez. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Gary Preston. Bob Nelson notched his 4th save of the season.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Bill Rawdon? The 33-year old left fielder Rawdon stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Montreal up, 3-0. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Toronto manager Carl Evans.
The Saints, now 52-58, have won 4 in a row. | |
