Pittsburgh Gets 8-6 Win | Chicago center fielder Bob Starr had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-6, to Pittsburgh at Whitney Park. Starr was 1-1 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The victory gives the Miners a record of 59-48.
Pittsburgh left fielder Rick Masters contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a knuckleball to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Miners ahead, 6-5.
