| Suns Deny Millers, 3-2 | Wilshire Park was the site of a competitive game between the Minneapolis Millers and Los Angeles Suns.
The Los Angeles Suns picked up a win at Wilshire Park, downing the Minneapolis Millers, 3-2. On the mound for Los Angeles was right-hander Heinie Schmidt, who played a pivotal role in the win. Schmidt yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2. His record improves to 10-8.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Suns had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when shortstop Tom Lally hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jack Turner and made the score 3-0, Suns. Lally went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Los Angeles manager Jim Coulter.
At 62-49, the Suns find themselves in first place in the Federal Association West. | |
