Tejada Lifts Pioneers to 6-1 Win | The St. Louis Pioneers beat the New York Gothams by a score of 6-1. St. Louis shortstop Ramon Tejada deserved the lion's share of the credit. Tejada went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Pioneers. Mel Hill earned his 2nd save in 2 chances. With the win, St. Louis pushed its record to 70-34.
Tejada contributed in the bottom of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped St. Louis get the win.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said St. Louis skipper Lou Ormsby. | |
