Late Offense Lifts Houston to 2-1 Victory
In a low-scoring affair between the Houston Comets and the Chicago Chiefs, pitcher George Roy was the difference between victory and defeat. The Houston right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Comets win. Houston reliever Bob Young picked up the win, upping his record to 7-6. Hal Alsip was saddled with the loss. The loss makes Chicago 45-66.

Milt Rush was the walk-off hero for Houston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Comets catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Watch and learn," said Rush. "This is what good pitching looks like."
