| Houston Tacks 3-1 Loss on Los Angeles | Behind an impressive start by Johnny Blackburn, Houston beat Los Angeles, 3-1. Bob Young earned save number 2 this season. The loss makes Los Angeles 3-2.
Jerry Robinson had a big 2-run double for the Comets in the bottom of the first inning. With Houston leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a cutter from Bob Hinzman, who led the CA in innings pitched with 269.1 in 1973, and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Comets ahead, 3-0.
"Johnny gave us everything he had," said Houston manager Glenn Carney. | |
