Cannons Beaten By Wranglers, 4-1 | The Dallas Wranglers topped the Cincinnati Cannons, 4-1, in Continental Association action at Norris Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Dallas pitcher and New York, native Butch Abrams. The winning pitcher was Abrams, now 5-5. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. The win puts the Wranglers at 24-29, while the Cannons drop to 30-23.
Had Tom Leisher not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Leisher hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Wranglers.
Leisher called the win "a team effort." | |
