| Chiefs Earn 6-5 Win Versus Keystones | A good performance from shortstop Mort Albright helped the Chicago Chiefs defeat the Philadelphia Keystones, 6-5. Albright went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Chiefs. Chicago reliever Bobby Ennis picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. James DeWeese was saddled with the loss. The triumph puts Chicago at 29-23 for the season.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Elmer Manning? The 40-year old second baseman Manning stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Chicago up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Philadelphia manager Dusty Morris. "But we decided not to take it."
