| Suns Drop Contest, 4-2, to Detroit | Detroit pitcher Pat Fortier had a large part in his team subduing the Los Angeles Suns, 4-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The win gives Detroit a season record of 57-49.
Detroit used a clutch at-bat from Alberto Alvarez to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Dynamos ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Detroit skipper Roger Cleaves.
