| Stars Beat Sailors, 8-5 | The Los Angeles Stars beat the San Francisco Sailors, 8-5, at Bigsby Stadium. The Stars got a fine performance from catcher Frank Taylor, who was 3-4 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI. The 'W' lifts Los Angeles's record to 63-44.
Had Mike Stevenson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Stevenson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Stars.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Stevenson.
