McCarthy Now 5-3 After Beating Millers
Houston pitcher Joe McCarthy did his part in helping his team defeat the Minneapolis Millers, 5-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The win for the Comets lifted their record to 56-52.

It was an impressive turn from the legendarily hard-working McCarthy, who tallied 6 strikeouts in 9 innings while allowing just 2 hits. McCarthy, who led the FA in strikeouts with 194 last year, goes to 5-3 on the year with 46 strikeouts.

"We had a good game plan," McCarthy said, "and we were able to execute it."
