| Johnston Swings Saints to 11-3 Win | Rain could not dampen the pregame excitement of Cincinnati fans. But the subsequent loss, and a disappointing one at that, to the Saints had to.
The Montreal Saints topped the Cincinnati Cannons, 11-3, with first baseman Jim Johnston playing a big role. Johnston went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Saints in the win. Jerry Duncan picked up the win, lifting his record to 7-7 on the season. He struck out 2 and walked 7 in 5 innings, while yielding 2 runs.
One of the key players for the Saints was pitcher Jerry Duncan, who drilled a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning. For the game, Duncan threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Johnston.
After today's action, Montreal sits at 51-76, while Cincinnati falls to 69-60.
