Loss Diminishes Fine Performance by Allen
The Cleveland Foresters overcame a pretty good performance by Los Angeles center fielder Lou Allen, beating the Stars, 11-9, at Forester Stadium. Allen was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Johnny Britton, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-0. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 6 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 4. Cleveland raised its record to 78-54 with the win.

Herm Ford hit a bases-clearing double off Floyd Warner in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Foresters in front, 5-4. In addition to the double, Ford had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"Confidence breeds confidence, Cleveland manager Jim Whitehead said, "and confidence breeds success."
