| Kings Need Extra Innings to Top Wranglers, 5-3 | Fans who congregated at Norris Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Seattle Kings overcame a pretty good performance by Dallas center fielder Tony McKittrick, beating the Wranglers, 5-3, in 10 innings. McKittrick went 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. John Bennet got credit for the win, improving to 4-3. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Mike Griffith? The 1974 Kellogg Award winner Griffith stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put Seattle up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Griffith told the Seattle Citizen. "And padding the Seattle win column."
The win for the Kings raised their record to 73-35. | |
