| Minutemen Lose, 4-2, as Dynamos Rally | The Boston Minutemen got a whale of a performance from pitcher Bob Hollister, but the Detroit Dynamos still prevailed, 4-2, in 10 innings. Hollister threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The winner in relief was Earl Shields. He is now 3-5. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Bill Follis recorded the save, his 2nd.
Don Lemmon chipped in for Detroit, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1 for 1.
Boston manager Harry Barrell said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Detroit is 5th in the Federal Association with a record of 58-69.
