Kansas City shortstop Bill Denney played a vital role in his team's 6-4 conquest of Chicago. He went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Kansas City. Del Lamb was credited with the save for Kansas City, his 6th of the season. The win for the Kings lifted their record to 29-23.

Denney contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Kansas City in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, Denney took a sinker from Andy Logue and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Kings to leap in front, 3-2.

Kansas City manager Glenn Carney called it "a pretty good win."
