Gothams Topple Miners, 3-1 | New York got a strong outing from Chuck Kleiman as the Gothams defeated the Pittsburgh Miners, 3-1, at Fitzpatrick Park. New York is now 58-71, Pittsburgh 55-74.
New York used the timely hitting of Jim Nielsen to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Gothams on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Nielsen told a New York Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax." | |
