| Suns Get Past Houston, 2-1 | Los Angeles pitcher Heinie Schmidt had a large part in his team beating the Houston Comets, 2-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Los Angeles reliever Bill Smith picked up the win to move to 1-0. Joe Barnes suffered the loss. Los Angeles improves to 58-48 with the win. They lead their division by 3½ games.
The Suns procured the win, in large part because of catcher Ed Mooney. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"It never gets old," said Schmidt. "Winning, that is."
