The Milwaukee Arrows could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Fred Smith into a win. Instead, the Toronto Wolves prevailed, 5-3. Smith threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Ray Smith earned the save, his 12th in 14 tries.
Toronto first baseman Les Reid helped the Wolves go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Reid hit a run-scoring single off Milwaukee pitcher Bud Andrews.
Reid attributed the win to his team's "determination."
The loss makes Milwaukee 51-53.
