| Montreal Beaten, 4-1, by Chicago | Chicago and Montreal duked it out and the Chiefs came out victorious.
Jack Beckwith, who finished 2nd in the FL in wins with 22 in 1908, was locked in. The right-hander led the Chicago Chiefs to a 4-1 win against the Montreal Saints at Parc Dumfries. Montreal, with the loss, is still a hardy 5-2.
Chicago used a timely hit from Rich Jarrell to get the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Jarrell told the Chicago Gazette. "But we take nothing for granted."
