Skains Lifts Copperheads to 9-2 Triumph
The Atlanta Copperheads used the hitting of right fielder Earl Skains to subdue the Boston Minutemen, 9-2. For the game, Skains went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Atlanta is first in the Federal Association East with a record of 67-38.

With the clubs tied 2-2 in the bottom of the second and the bases loaded, center fielder Don Riley, who finished 3rd in the FA in runs with 115 in 1972, drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
