| Los Angeles Beats Houston, Goes to 64-42 | The first-place Los Angeles Suns took on the Houston Comets in front of a spirited crowd.
The Los Angeles Suns picked up a win at Wilshire Park, topping the Houston Comets, 7-4. On the mound for Los Angeles was right-hander Al Whitman. He played a principal role in the triumph. The winner was Whitman. He threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was George Roy. Earning the save was Ron Clark. He's now cashed in 27 of 33 save opportunities.
Los Angeles left fielder Jim Thurman landed a blow when he belted a 3-run home run in the bottom of the third. It was his 8th home run of the season. With it, the Suns took a 7-0 lead.
"We've got a great group of guys," Thurman said, "and we're having fun right now."
