| Merrick Swats 2 Homers, Kings Top Cougars, 11-3 | Rain could not dampen the pregame excitement of Chicago fans. But the subsequent loss, and a disappointing one at that, to the Kings had to.
No one was more impactful than Stan Merrick in the 11-3 Seattle win over Chicago. Merrick, who led the CA in doubles with 45 in 1972, was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3. The Kings raised their record to 63-42.
In the first inning, Merrick had a solo home run for Seattle. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Kings on top, 1-0.
