The Boston Beacons were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Chicago Blues and hurler Larry Wurth. Wurth kept the Beacons confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Wurth," Boston manager John Milton said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 30-year-old right-hander had 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Wurth said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

To date this season, Wurth is 9-4 with 13 starts and an ERA of 2.05 with 42 strikeouts in 110 innings.
