| Skidding Imperials Lose 9th Straight | The Milwaukee Arrows used the hitting of right fielder Jim Stogner to subdue the New York Imperials, 7-4. For the game, Stogner was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Milwaukee reliever Johnny Britton picked up the win, raising his record to 4-2. Ed Wells was tagged with the loss. The Imperials, now 53-50, have lost 9 in a row.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Milwaukee trailing 4-3, Stogner jumped on a fastball from 35-year old right-handed pitcher Stan Boone and hit a grand slam home run to right-center. With one swing, the Arrows had a walk-off win.
Afterward, New York manager Jim Abernathy said: "We've got to find a way to pick up a win." | |
