| Cleveland Rallies for 3-2 Victory | The Cleveland Foresters had to overcome a fine effort from Cincinnati pitcher Moe Powell to win, 3-2, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Powell went 7.1 innings and allowed no runs. Cleveland pitcher Bill Harris earned the win, hiking his record to 6-11. Earl White suffered the loss. Bob V James, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of John Piper to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Foresters on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Helping the team win is what it's all about," said Piper.
Cleveland is in 4th place in the Continental Association East with a record of 47-57. | |
