| Copperheads Sneak Past Minutemen, 4-3 | The Atlanta Copperheads beat the Boston Minutemen, 4-3. Atlanta pitcher and Payette, Idaho, native Howie Burt led the way. Atlanta goes to 66-38, Boston to 57-47.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 3-3, 32-year old second baseman Walt Dugan won it for Atlanta. With the bases loaded, Dugan hit a 0-1 cutter from Bud Shireman for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 4-3 win.
"When Howie executes, it really doesn't matter what the other lineup is," said Atlanta field general Don Fox.
