| Sailors Drop Wranglers, 6-3 | The San Francisco Sailors beat the Dallas Wranglers, 6-3, at Norris Stadium. The Sailors got a fine performance from third baseman Ernie Carter, who went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. The winning pitcher was Ralph Pierce. He tossed 102 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Mike Peter earned the save for San Francisco, his 5th.
It could have been a different outcome for San Francisco, had it not been for Pete Gibson, the former first round draft pick . Gibson contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the third inning to put San Francisco up, 2-0.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Carter, "one at-bat at a time."
The Sailors improved their record to 48-58 with the win over Dallas. | |
