| Stars Fall to Cougars, 3-2 | The Chicago Cougars picked up a win at Cougars Park, dropping the Los Angeles Stars, 3-2. Manny Espinosa, who is a three-time All-Star, was the difference-maker. Espinosa got the win, improving to 4-5. He gave up 5 hits and walked 4 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Chicago is in last place in the Continental Association West with a record of 45-62.
In the bottom of the 7th, left fielder Sam Morrison gave Chicago the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Cougars had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Los Angeles pitcher Vean Conrad changed that -- and Chicago went on to win.
"I'd like to pile on a few more wins before the end of the year," said Espinosa.
