| With Late Score, Kings Beat Mavericks | The Seattle Kings and Kansas City Mavericks put on quite a show.
Seattle starter John Howell pitched well against the Kansas City Mavericks at Mavericks Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3, in 12 innings. Seattle reliever Billy Collins picked up the win, upping his record to 6-1. Van Taylor was saddled with the loss. Picking up the save was John Bennet, his 2nd.
Seattle used the timely hitting of Hank Williams to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Kings on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Williams. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
Seattle goes to 70-34. The win puts them 12½ games up in their division. | |
