| Houston Slaps 5-2 Loss on St. Louis | St. Louis got a terrific game from shortstop Tom Spruill. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Houston, 5-2. Spruill was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. The second-place Comets sport a record of 54-49.
In the top of the seventh, Spencer Reese delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Houston pitcher hit a run-scoring single, putting the Comets in front, 5-2.
"I have a really good team behind me," Reese said. "I trust them 100 percent."
