| Cougars Take Tight Tangle | The Chicago Cougars picked up a win at Cougars Park, topping the Los Angeles Stars, 5-4. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Roger Alford. He played a principal role in the triumph. With this game in the books, Chicago is 44-62, Los Angeles 60-42.
There were several reasons the Cougars beat the Stars, but one factor was Fuzzy Cronin. In the bottom of the second, the Chicago center fielder came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 3-1 lead.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Cronin told the Chicago Today. "Whatever it takes."
