Chicago turned a good effort from starter Otis Hawkins into a win over the Los Angeles Suns at Whitney Park. The final score was 4-2. The winner was Phil Murphy in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Heinie Schmidt took the loss. Hal Alsip was called on to finish, recording his 13th save.

Chicago took a 3-2 lead on Ricardo Castillo's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Castillo hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Los Angeles pitcher Heinie Schmidt visibly frustrated.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Hawkins told the Chicago News.

Chicago is now 54-52.
