| Arrows Use Late Score to Top Foresters, 3-2 | Though he had a great game, Herb Reed could not single-handedly produce a win for Cleveland. Milwaukee won the game, 3-2. Reed went 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. Milwaukee reliever Jim Hart picked up the win, upping his record to 7-9. Bob V James was saddled with the loss. Milwaukee, now 57-45, holds down first place in the Continental Association East.
In the bottom of the ninth, with no one out and the game tied, 2-2, slick-fielding second baseman Paul Burkley won it for Milwaukee. With the bases loaded, Burkley hit a full count fastball from Bob V James for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Burkley told the Milwaukee Herald. "I know I'll rest easy tonight." | |
