| Clippers Win at Washington, 4-1 | Baltimore starter Buck Guthrie kept the Washington offense from doing much damage. The left-hander leaned on his fastball in leading the Clippers to a 4-1 win. Guthrie, now 9-10, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Baltimore's record now stands at 48-54, placing them second in the Federal Association East.
Hal Blank, who finished 3rd in the FA in batting average with .331 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Blank contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put Baltimore up, 4-1.
"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," Guthrie told the Baltimore Observer. | |
