| Late Rally by Copperheads Secures 3-1 Win | A 3-RBI performance from left fielder Jack Abasi, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1961 draft, led the Atlanta Copperheads to a win over the Philadelphia Keystones, 3-1. John McCormick snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Jim Steuber suffered the loss. Buddy Thomas earned the save for Atlanta, his 20th of the year.
Abasi had a timely hit for Atlanta in the top of the eighth. With Atlanta trailing 1-0, he turned a full count curveball into a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season, making it 3-1, Atlanta.
