| Suns Send Chicago Home with 5-3 Loss | Despite a great performance by Chicago first baseman Andy Ellefsen, the Los Angeles Suns defeated the Chiefs by the score of 5-3 at Whitney Park. Ellefsen was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jimmy Blair picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-7. He struck out 5 in 7.2 innings. Bill Smith, who finished 3rd in the FA in strikeouts with 157 in 1962, earned the save for Los Angeles.
Harry Dellinger, the Los Angeles first baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to make the score 2-0, Suns. For the game, Dellinger went 2-4 with 2 singles.
"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Dellinger told the Los Angeles Chronicle.
The Suns improved their record to 56-48 by beating Chicago. | |
