| Chiefs Beaten, 4-3, by Houston | Jay Hunt, who finished 3rd in the FA in saves with 24 in 1971, propelled his team to victory over the Chicago Chiefs. The final score was 4-3, Houston. Hunt, now 5-2, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Earning his 13th save of the year was Bob Young.
Houston used the hitting of Tex Strain to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Comets on top, 4-0. For the game, Strain had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
