Behind a fine performance from Don Jones, the Houston Comets knocked off the St. Louis Pioneers, 11-4. Jones was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Comets. Jay Hunt, who is tied for 10th in the FA with a 1.21 WHIP, was the winner. He's now 8-7. The loser was Frank Davis. The third-place Comets now sit at 52-49.

Houston right fielder John Edwards contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a slider to left field for a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Comets ahead, 7-0.
