| Chicago Rallies for 2-1 Victory | The Chicago Chiefs picked up a win at Whitney Park, knocking off the Houston Comets, 2-1. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Troy Myers. He played a key role in the triumph. Chicago reliever Hal Alsip picked up the win, raising his record to 3-2. Bob Young was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the Chiefs record stands at 43-58.
Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 26-year old second baseman Harry McDaniel had a real shot to win the game. Houston pitcher Bob Young was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, McDaniel hit a run-scoring single. The Chiefs had a walk-off triumph.
McDaniel said afterward that "winning, obviously, is the main objective." | |
