The New York Gothams could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Joe Nelson into a win. Instead, the Baltimore Clippers prevailed, 5-4, in 11 innings. Nelson threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Baltimore is now 52-47, while New York is 52-47.

The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 11th inning. With two out, Hank Butler hit a 0-1 screwball from Gus Tropeano for a run-scoring single. It put Baltimore in front, 3-2.

"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Butler.
