| Stars Claim 6-4 Triumph | The Los Angeles Stars beat the Kansas City Mavericks, 6-4. Los Angeles pitcher and Inglewood, California, native Vean Conrad led the way. Conrad yielded 3 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 9-7. Jackie Thompson earned his 15th save, after closing out the game.
Los Angeles won the game in part because of Ed Moore. The center fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Stars ahead, 5-1. For the game, Moore had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
