| Cougars Win Nail-Biter | The Chicago Cougars topped the Montreal Saints, 4-3, in 12 innings at Stade Montreal. The game was highlighted by the performance of Chicago pitcher Pug White. Steve Madden notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. With the win, the Cougars have a record of 53-46.
Tom Lorang, who finished 3rd in the FA in home runs with 33 in 1973, had a direct impact on the outcome. Lorang contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the 12th inning to put Chicago up, 4-3.
"Took some scratching and clawing," said Lorang. "But we got it done."
