| Chiefs Pick Up 7-2 Win Against Houston | The Chicago Chiefs locked up a win at Whitney Park, knocking off the Houston Comets, 7-2. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Johnny Maples. He played a major role in the triumph. Maples yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-8. The Chiefs now have a record of 42-58.
Chicago right fielder Ricardo Castillo contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 106th hit of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 2-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Maples told the Chicago News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there." | |
