The 8-3 Washington win over Houston was due largely to Tom Lorang. The Eagles third baseman went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The 5th-place Eagles go to 49-50.

The Eagles got an important contribution from shortstop Al Marino, who in the bottom of the second hit a slider to left for a run-scoring double. It was his 11th double of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 2-0.

Marino said afterward that "winning, obviously, is the main objective."
