| Down to Defeat Go Minutemen, 4-2 | The Minneapolis Millers topped the Boston Minutemen, 4-2, in Federal Association action at Minuteman Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Minneapolis pitcher and Oakland, California, native Hub Huffman. Huffman picked up the win for Minneapolis, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 8-6. Ben Baird earned the save, his 16th, for the Millers.
Minneapolis used the timely hitting of Tony Nava to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Millers on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put it together and came out with the win," Nava said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The 4th-place Millers hiked their record to 44-52. | |
