| Thurman Powers Suns to 8-5 Win | The home crowd had a good time watching the Baltimore Clippers and Los Angeles Suns get after it.
Los Angeles left fielder Jim Thurman had a 3-RBI game, leading his team in its 8-5 defeat of the Baltimore Clippers. Thurman picked up 3 singles and 1 double in the ballgame. Pete Meissner got the win, improving to 10-6. He worked 7 innings, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 5.
With Los Angeles leading 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh, Thurman hit a 2-run single off Baltimore hurler Roy Wheeler. It was the 90th hit of the season for Thurman and put his team ahead, 8-5.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Thurman told the Los Angeles Times. "It's as simple as that."
